Providing Christian Literature to Areas of Need
E Bay Sales
Back to Rockdale Shop
One of the largest areas of
expansion is the sale of books by charities on the Internet.
Oxfam and other charities in the
UK are expanding sales with internet dedicated sales outlets
selling a range of books including collectible items.
Book Aid (Australia) is
looking at setting up a similar venture, initially using E
Bay but possibly expanding to our own web site or other
outlets such as ABE, Alibris, Biblio etc
Book Aid (Australia)
will receive donations of books not suitable to be sent
overseas. These could include:
-
Books with a strong western or local bias (eg local church history,
books focusing on western consumerism etc)
-
Books with a gift focus or limited doctrinal bias (eg Christian
fiction)
-
Older / antiquarian or collectible books
We also plan to offer through the internet part of the range of new
titles offered through the shop.
An incentive scheme for volunteers to sell these items on line is
being looked at. The volunteers will be responsible for cataloguing,
photographing and uploading to the Book Aid (Australia) E Bay Store
as well as despatch of the same item to the customer on sale. A
proposed split of 60% of turnover of sales going to
Book Aid
(Australia) and 40% to the volunteer is suggested.
Book Aid (Australia) will be responsible for the cost of the venture
including set up costs, E Bay fees and Postage.
It may be possible to include volunteers living outside the local
Rockdale area who have an interest in the work to undertake this
from their home bases.
